What can I do?
  • Educate yourself on why the funding system is broken and tell as many people in the community as well. (see the link RESOURCES).  We can't fight something we don't know anything about.

  • VOTE!  are you registered to Vote?  Do you go to the Polls?  Remember this when you vote in the governor, school board and state legislator elections.

  • Attend the District School Board Meetings, not just at budget time.  On a regular basis.

  • Contact your state legislators, in writing
A hand-written, signed and mailed letter is the most powerful tool.
    our State Representatives are:

    Jeffrey Plale                                               Mark Honadel
Wisconsin State Senator                               Wisconsin State Representative
If you are not from our area - find your legislator here:  http://www.legis.wisconsin.gov/w3asp/waml/waml.aspx .

  • What should I write?
Letters written in your own words are more powerful than form letters.  Write that you value public schools.  You are concerned for your property values.  Write about what a public education has done for you.  Write about your child's current experience in school (growing class sizes, cut programs, and teachers.)  More ideas here

  • Contact your School Board Members to express your views or ideas.... AND ask how you can help. We need to pull together to help change the climate to one that is favorable for education in Madison.

  • We will lose this battle if we sit on the sidelines. Now is the time!
